Abstract

The essence of the country studies elective course in accordance with its goals, objectives and content is specified in the article. The scientific and theoretical positions, incorporated in the concept of the elective course textbook “German-Speaking Countries” for senior school students, are covered. Its dominant role as the main means of mastering foreign language elective course by senior students is indicated. The basic regularities and principles, which are the basis of the textbook content, are determined. The content of the elective course textbook “German-Speaking Countries” for the school students of 10-11 grades is described. Expected results of educational and cognitive activity of senior school students on country studies textbook are formulated.
