Abstract
The essence of competence notion as investigative activity of a teacher, when on the basis of knowledge, skills and conscious understanding of his role in society, lifelong self-perfection and self-development of a personality he provides optimal variant of learning process organization aimed at forming a creative personality has been considered. Main types of a modern Finnish teacher competencies, namely: field, research, curriculum, lifelong learning, emotional, social, communication, information and communication, intelligent, situational, time, have been characterized.
