Abstract
The paper is devoted to analyses of contemporary British innovations in the development of international university rankings THE and QS. In situation, when popularity and the levels of influence of university rankings on national and global academic policies were increased dramatically, we could observe the increasing of the competitiveness between the leading ranking agencies. This process is reflected in active looking for new approaches and form for representation of ranking activities with the purpose to attract additional interest from the members of target audiences. We identified the tendency for development of regional university rankings (Asia, Latin America, BRICS) and for development of ranking of young universities, which were established less than 50 years ago.
