Abstract
The specifics of the legal regulation of the educational process in the conditions of the estate society in Underrussian Ukraine in XIX – early XX century were studied. The historical backgrounds and peculiarities of the educational ideals’ formation in the various social layers of bourgeois class – honorable citizens, merchants, craft brotherhoods were analyzed. The city is represented as a special space providing co-existence of different-types of educational ideals – ethnonational, class, property, status, professional, gender, which were formed in the unified legal field of the Russian Empire.
