Abstract

We proposed the analysis of theoretical and empirical researches in educational ideal in the letters of the intellectual elite with pedagogical content in Ukraine XIX – early XX century: M. Dragomanov, Y.I. Kraszewski, V. Korolenko, M. Kropivnitsky, P. Kulish, Lesya Ukrainka, T. Shevchenko etc. We investigate the nature of the conflict of ideals, described from different ideological vectors of Ukrainian society. Monitored pedagogical consequences of unbalanced educational intentions of the state and spiritual needs of the intellectual elite and the social expectations of various segments of Underrussian Ukraine that period. It is shown that the main motive force behind the theoretical and practical search for educational ideal was a conflict as a interpersonal hassle of beliefs and principles or uncompromising ideologies which exist in society. The authors of letters appear as a "bifurcated hero" which educational ideal is formed by a critical assessment of official Christian and national ideals, awareness of formalities and non-viability. However, the idea of a new Ukrainian intellectual elite of the educational ideal is too ahead of time. The spread was preventing by the imperial government’s repressive policy and the unreadiness of the Ukrainian society to actively protect their own national ideals. Searching for the educational ideal of personality, which is reflected in the epistles of this period was the formation of his model, the which components appeared the ideal-goal, the ideal process, the ideal-face. A special place in epistolars given for the thoughts of need for fundamental changes in the social environment as a key condition for the formation of the educational ideal.
