Abstract
The article presents the results of a study on the theoretical foundations of the problem of vocational self-determination of students. The author makes a conclusion about the dualistic nature of this phenomenon, which, on the one hand, is defined as a process during which a decision is made concerning the choice of profession, professional development of the individual, his affirmation society take place. On the other hand, it is the result of this action, as a component of vital self-determination of the individual, his (her) acquisition of professional identity and the formation of the image «I’m a professional». The adequacy of the action reveals the «readiness for a certain type of activity», in this case «readiness to vocational self-determination». Vocational determination in itself is a gradual decision on determining the individual’s attitude to the profession, analysis and reflection of his (her) own professional accomplishments, clarifying and correcting his (her) choice, other issues directly related to the peculiarities of career building process.
