Abstract
Based on analysis of archival documents and scientific literature, the author identifies trends in adult education in Ukraine in the second half of the XXth century. At that time the main tasks of adult education were illiteracy elimination, constant increase in the number of secondary schools for adults, development of concept of lifelong education, spreading the idea of continuous learning and research on adult education, new forms of adult training (courses and training institutions), new technologies enabling to improve adult learning process and make it continuous.
