Abstract
The article analyzes the definitions of the categories of "quality", "quality education" in psychological and pedagogical literature and vocabulary sources. The theoretical analysis allowed us to state that in general, all definitions of quality can be divided into two main groups: the structurally meaningful and functional. Structurally meaningful definitions characterize quality in terms of its components and their interrelationships. Functional definitions are based on social context, disclose quality in terms its social value and relevance. Concluded that the quality of education in the information society is of special decisive weight. It is viewed as a major factor in world development and one of the conditions of prosperity of any country. By modern machineries for improving the quality of higher education attributed development of the National Qualifications Framework, compatible with the framework of qualifications of the European Higher Education Area and the European framework of qualifications for lifelong learning on the basis of the competence approach
