Abstract
The stage-by-stage introduction of competence approach in primary education in the context of its content modernization in the first and second generation of state standard is studied. The subjects correlation for key and subject competences forming among junior schoolchildren is outlined. The priority of “learning to learn” key competence forming of junior schoolchildren is grounded. Keywords: state standard, competence education, competence, subject and key competence, correlation between them; ability to study; external and internal contradictions of competence approach introduction.
