Abstract
In this paper, on the basis of theoretical analysis of scientific sources, the theoretical aspect of the concept of competence is revealed. Competence, in the practice-oriented sense, is determined as the experience of a subject, as an ability to effectively solve practical problems, using appropriate scientific knowledge. However, the practical task has a goal that involves changing the external situation. The practical task differs from the learning one, namely the purpose of practical tasks is a psychological change of the subject. The learning (training) task involves mastering of new knowledge by the subject, a new mode of action. So, having acquired it as a result of implementation of educational task, the subjects change themselves psychologically, adding to their intellectual fund a new piece. Thus, the deeper and more diverse the knowledge of the subjects is, the wider range of practical problems they are able to research and solve accordingly.
