Abstract
In the article the category of political-legal competence was grounded, determined by its structural elements (social representation, an attitude, knowledge and understanding, a set of skills and abilities). Substantiates the idea of four levels of political-legal competence of young people, are disclosed features of this levels. The criterion for allocation of levels of political-legal competence should be: social representations and attitudes, knowledge and experience, the degree of activity of the person in dealing with the political and legal situations. Was proposed key meanings and tasks which can be used as a basis for the development of applied techniques of formation of political-legal competence of young people. It is shown how these themes can be used in the preparation of young people in secondary schools and universities. It defines the categories in which it is possible to evaluate the results of the formation of political-legal competence of young people.
