Abstract

Essay. The article analyzes the transformation of the concepts of "competence" and "competence" in various scientific publications and encyclopedic literature from the time of Aristotle to the present day. Expressed its own author's position regarding the interpretation of these concepts, the emphasis on the need for a clear separation of these concepts in the context of the transition from verbal to analytical methods of evaluation. The author focuses on the search for mathematical approaches to quantification and analytic mapping indicators of competence of skilled workers. As a result of the search is proposed to characterize the competence graphically in the form of "paraboloid competence" and competence - both cut "cone of competence." Analytical expertise and competence are defined by the formulas for calculating the volume of these figures and the level of competence - as the ratio of "paraboloid competence" to the scope of the "cone of competence." The mathematical definition of the level of competence in practice allows to predict the nature of the influence of "human factor" on the probability of guaranteed performance specialist professional job.
