Abstract
The article is devoted to development of theoretical and methodological foundations of teaching syntax and punctuation Ukrainian language students of 8-9 grades according to innovative social and educational challenges. We describe the stages of learning syntax and punctuation Ukrainian language in secondary school. Author determined innovative approaches to the formation of competencies syntactic and punctuation students 8-9 grades. Concretized linguodidactic principles, forms and methods of teaching Ukrainian syntax and punctuation on the basis of competence, personality and activity-oriented approaches. Clarified the meaning of "syntactic competence", "competency punctuation".
