Abstract
In the article, the approaches to the presentation of the history of foreign school education were defined and characterized on the basis of the analysis on the textbooks on the history of pedagogy of modern Ukrainian (I. V. Zaychenko, V. P. Kravets, M. V. Levkivskyi, A. A. Sbrueva, and others) and foreign (O.N. Dzhuryns'kyy, O.I. Piskunov, K.I. Salimova, V.A. Kapranova, R. Sellek, D. Dini, Ch. Mayore and others) scientists; in the majority of textbooks, the information on the development of school education (the types of the comprehensive educational institutions, organizational forma and methods of teaching, education content, statistics, aims, branches, and school reforms results, etc.) is provided in different aspects in the countries of Europe and the U.S.A. First of all, it improves the historical and pedagogical knowledge of scientists, teachers, students of the pedagogical educational establishment and everyone who is interested in foreign pedagogy. In most cases, material is represented chronologically; the content of its main part is based on the information included in the previous textbooks; the amount of the material of modern researchers which covers the history of the foreign school education and comparative pedagogy is not enough; the sources used in the textbooks need the foreign documentary and fiction sources; the Ukrainian component is absent in foreign textbooks.
