Abstract

The preprint (analytical materials) analyzes the state, efficiency and competitiveness of the network of state higher education institutions in Ukraine. The article provides a national and regional characterization of the network of institutions in terms of their number and size, profile and priority of training, coverage and duplication, completeness of specialties, positions in international university rankings, and prospects for optimization, primarily through consolidation. The results of the study may be useful for carrying out priority reforms of higher education necessary in the wartime and post-war periods, increasing the state's defense capability and successful European integration of the country.
