Abstract

This article presents the gist of the use a smartphone in research activities of applicants for higher education. Topicality of the use a smartphone in research activities of applicants for higher education associated with the spread of mobile technology in traditional and distance learning of students. The author proved possibilities to organize the research activities of future specialists in a new way with the help of such devices as a smartphone. The use a smartphone in research activities of applicants for higher education allows to increase their activity, independence, confidence, creativity and ingenuity. The smartphone, as a simple digital online device, provides access to a large amount of information, exchange of knowledge and results of research activities of applicants for higher education. The use of a smartphone is possible for lectures and practical classes in the higher education system. The advantages of using smartphones in the research activities of applicants for higher education include: increasing the independence of students in the process of research; the ability to find the necessary information in the Internet; the ability of group discussion with the help of smartphone services; creating a positive learning and research environment in the auditorium; improving digital literacy of applicants for higher education; the possibility of rapid exchange of information between students and teacher; exchange of text, voice and video information during lectures and practical classes. The disadvantages of using smartphones in the research activities applicants for higher education include: distraction to third-party information, applications, phone calls, communication on social networks; the need to configure the smartphone according to research tasks (using the Internet, setting up applications, using chats, etc.); various technical capabilities of smartphones. The use a smartphone in reserche activities of applicants for higher education is possible in the process of mastering any discipline.
