Abstract

Attention is drawn to the fact that foreign language teachers should evaluate their pedagogical value and expediency when choosing digital means. Teachers are encouraged to use the list of principles of foreign language teaching proposed by the Cambridge University Press and Language Expert Group, namely: the principle of using different types of teaching material; the principle of positive involvement; the principle of individual learning; the principle of available feedback; the principle of autonomous learning; the principle of meaningful communication; the principle of active learning. It is emphasized that such an approach will help to make decisions on the use of certain digital tools and teaching materials for language learning in the context of reforming the new Ukrainian school. Examples of digital tools for teaching foreign languages ​​that can be used by foreign language teachers to develop a digital educational environment in general secondary education institutions, which contribute to the formation of students' foreign language communicative competence and information-digital competence. The following digital tools were analyzed: Vusuu.com, ChatterPix, NewspaperClub ARTHR, ThingLink, Zoom, VEO. It is suggested to use their opportunities by students and teachers to conduct foreign language lessons. The strengths and weaknesses of the proposed digital tools that teachers should pay attention to when preparing and conducting foreign language lessons are identified. It is concluded that foreign language teachers can use not only traditional technologies and methods of teaching, but also digital teaching aids that will be useful and effective in teaching other school subjects, which will contribute to the formation of students' information-digital and foreign language communicative competence of students. Emphasis is placed on the expediency of combining different forms of digital use during the lesson and in extracurricular activities of students, which promotes the development of analytical and critical thinking, creativity, research skills, the ability to plan their actions and communicate in communities.
