Abstract

According to the UN, the world's population has reached 8 billion people. However, many countries around the world (EU member states, the United States, Canada and other highly developed countries) are currently facing a sharp decline in population growth. We are witnessing the most fundamental changes in modern human history. A shift towards widespread and permanent low birth rates, population aging and, ultimately, depopulation. Governments are facing another challenge: along with climate change, food security, and environmental destruction, population aging and declining birth rates are becoming perhaps the most important challenge.
