Abstract
It is stated that after Ukraine receives the status of a candidate for EU membership (2022), the study of the concept and practice of developing the European Research Area is relevant. The author describes the vision of the European Research Area; emphasises the movement towards the European Research Area’s compliance with the rapidly changing needs of European economies and societies; reveals that the renewed European Research Area envisages strengthening the inclusiveness, excellence, diversity, attractiveness and global competitiveness of European higher education in order to transform Europe into a leader in addressing global challenges.
