Abstract

Emphasis is placed on the importance of talent search and development work as a modern policy direction of the European Union. The EU documents in which special importance is attached to the special education of the gifted have been analyzed. The latest foreign, European and Ukrainian studies of the phenomenon of giftedness as an asynchronous development are analyzed. Different variants of uneven development of gifted children and their socio-psychological problems are shown. The status of gifted children as individuals with special needs is substantiated. The results of the European monitoring study on the implementation of EU recommendations on the development of the education of gifted and talented children are presented. The problems and prospects of implementing the European experience in Ukraine regarding work with gifted children as individuals with special educational needs in terms of inclusion are outlined.
