Abstract

The article analyzes the essence of the concepts "cross-cutting skills" and "ability to read with understanding". The types of tasks of the Ukrainian language and reading textbook aimed at forming the ability to read with understanding have been determined. The results of the analysis of the tasks of the most rated textbooks on the Ukrainian language and reading for 1st and 2nd grade are presented in terms of their ability to develop the ability to read with understanding in younger schoolchildren.
