Abstract

In the spirit of the modern trend of historical microhistory research, the circumstances of the life and scientific activity of the first President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (1992-1997) in the history of independent Ukraine, Mykola Dmytrovych Yarmachenko, are represented. The factors that influenced his formation are highlighted (information from the memoirs of M. Yarmachenko himself about the facts of his childhood and youth, from archival documents about the student Yarmachenko, from the family archive). His scientific activity is characterized in terms of 3 separate periods: the period of scientific ascent (1951-1973), the time of scientific maturity and the expansion of the boundaries of creative search (1973-1992), the academic period or the period of creation of a new scientific and educational space of independent Ukraine (1992-2010).
