Abstract

The article highlights the results of historical and methodical research of the process of establishing of national didactics of physics in the 1920s – early 1930s. The attention is focused on the role of teachers-innovators in the development of the theory and practice of school physical education. We show that the teacher of physics became an engine of change that built content and methods of teaching physics during the period in the history of Ukrainian education positioned with active processes of innovation and methodological research. The position is proved that physical education in Ukrainian secondary school during this period emerged and functioned as a complete independent system, a core element of which was the creative activity of a teacher. It is shown that due to talented teachers the implementation in school practice advanced teaching methods, technologies, development of creative abilities of students, active learning methods, new forms of assessment of students’ achievement happened. An important role of teaching is suggested in the development of educational experiment as a leading method of school physics. The analysis of work of teachers of physics is done, reflecting the best practical experience that defines trends of methodological thought in physics during this period. Their contribution to the theory and practice of teaching physics is characterized. The conclusion is made regarding the sustainability of educational tradition of innovation in the history of national didactics of physics and the appropriateness of its thorough studying and consideration when creating modern teaching systems and searching of mechanisms of school physical education modernization.
