Abstract
Long before the start of the war in Ukraine, the "School with Class" Foundation has been observing with concern the difficulties associated with the inclusion of refugee children or those with a migration experience into the Polish education system and offers support to schools. We have seen the increase in teacher loneliness, the lack of systemic solutions, and difficulties in the organization of education. At the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022, school principals and teachers in Poland, already overwhelmed by two years of pandemics, distance education and previous crises, faced another challenge – to enroll several hundred thousand children who escaped the war into classes. In view of the tragedy of the war and despite many difficulties, they tried to provide children with support and create conditions for development. We decided to investigate how education and inclusion of Ukrainian schoolchildren took place in the first months after the start of the war, how principals and teachers evaluate this process, and what kind of support they need the most. The results of the survey will be used to better prepare a set of measures aimed at schools that want to effectively integrate multicultural classes with children with refugee and migration experiences.
