Abstract

The collective monograph, authored by Ukrainian and Polish scholars, highlights valuable research materials related to the COVID 19 pandemic and russian aggression against Ukraine, which have caused profound changes in the Ukrainian education system. This has had a negative impact on the quality of the educational process. The prolonged isolation of children has caused various psychological, psycho-pedagogical, psychophysiological and social deficits in children and youth. The articles highlight the results of scientific research conducted in Ukraine and Poland. They demonstrate the relevance of modern educational problems, the legislative basis for their solution, and creative approaches to improving the quality of the educational process in schools, universities and other educational institutions. The research materials are systematised in four parts. The first part outlines the scientific, methodological and educational challenges caused by the pandemic. The articles analyse the scientific, methodological and institutional support for education in the pandemic, describe the peculiarities of distance learning for future teachers and preparing young people to enter the labour market. The second part of the monograph describes the results of research on the functioning of higher education institutions in the pandemic. The authors highlight topical issues related to the organisation of training of the future specialists at universities and other educational institutions. The authors draw attention to the difficulties and shortcomings, and analyse the impact of the pandemic on the decline in the quality of education. The considerable attention is paid to the challenges and prospects for the development of distance learning in the interpersonal context of the educational process in higher education. The third part of the monograph is devoted to the problems of professional, pedagogical and adult education. The possibilities and certain limitations in these areas are revealed. The strategy for the development of vocational training of skilled workers in Ukraine in the pandemic, the role of modern state standards in the professional development of teachers, pedagogical and psychological aspects of teacher training for different types of educational institutions, as well as trends in the development of pedagogical education in the pandemic are described. The considerable attention is paid to the role of teachers' informatics and digital competences in distance learning. An important addition is the analysis of opportunities and barriers to the development of adult education in the online system. Attention is drawn to the needs for knowledge and the formation of professional skills of social workers to function effectively in the pandemic. The last part of the monograph presents research materials on the dilemmas of education of Polish and Ukrainian children and youth in the pandemic. The authors discuss pedagogical, medical and psychological features of teaching adolescents in extreme conditions. Of particular interest is the experience of distance learning in music schools, as well as the potential of the Internet for primary school children. Thus, the interdisciplinary analysis, theoretically grounded provisions and proposed scientific and methodological approaches are innovative. Their peculiarity lies in the disclosure of extreme, non-traditional conditions of education and training in the era of the pandemic and full-scale russian aggression against Ukraine.
