Abstract

The textbook "Teaching children with cognitive disabilities in a competency-based approach" contains materials of modern models of education of children with cognitive impairments. Author's approaches to solving problems of development, education and socialization of such children are offered. Theoretical and methodological principles are outlined and psychological and pedagogical models of assistance to children with mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, hyperactive disorder with attention deficit and mild intellectual disabilities in the process of learning and socialization are presented. Practical tasks proposed by the authors, aimed at solving the necessary developmental and educational tasks of students with cognitive impairment, will be useful to teachers in conducting correctional and developmental work, identifying features of its content, special methods, methods and conditions that best promote knowledge and social child development. The proposed materials will be useful for teachers, psychologists of special and inclusive educational institutions, families of children with special needs and all who care about the fate of such children.
