Abstract

A comparative analysis of the intellectual and personal characteristics of the 9th grade students of the IT-lyceum and students of 12 schools of Ukraine of different educational profiles was conducted. It was shown that the used groups of indices (intellect and its structural components, psycho-typological properties, balance of personality traits) significantly differentiated students of the IT profile schooling from other students (with the "average" profile) of the 9th grade. Particular results: 1. A comparative analysis of the intellectual and personality characteristics of the 9th grade students of the IT-lyceum and students of 12 schools of Ukraine of different educational profiles made it possible to reveal that, as in the case of students of the physical and mathematical lyceum, the 9-grade students of this educational profile differed significantly from "average" student on the level of development of general and nonverbal intelligence. 2. A significantly higher level of development of such components of intelligence in IT students such as combining ability, mobility and the ability to switch thinking, the ability to solve practical problems of computing, logical and mathematical thinking were revealed. 3. In the personal dimension, the same students had higher rates of severity of almost all personal criteria (psycho-typological properties). 4. Averaged indicators of the balance of personal qualities for all surveyed were close to "0", while the students of the IT Lyceum demonstrated clear tendencies in the manifestation of the displacement of personality traits from the average level: a certain dependence, obedience and a tendency to follow the orders of the elders; insignificantly focused on their own problems and insignificant interest in the environment; a tendency towards balance, personality integrity; mobilization of all functions, preparation for active actions. 5. Using a multiple correlation analysis, it has been demonstrated that the development of general and non-verbal intelligence of students of the IT profile schooling had a reverse dependence on feeling, perceptions and heteronomy-autonomy and direct dependence on intuition and concentricity-eccentricity. The formation of personal qualities of the 9-class IT training profile indicated that particular structural components of the intellect or a combination of them, as well as the autonomic balance of the person, affected the formation of each psychosocial characteristic.
