Abstract

The article deals with education of moral self-consciousness of older adolescents as a scientific problem. The analysis of the philosophical, psychological and pedagogical sources where this problem was highlighted, allowed characterizing the moral self-consciousness as a phenomenon and a new formation in the context of content-semantic nature of valuable «I» of personality, reflection, self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-attitude. Older adolescents’ age is defined as sensitive to the moral education of self-consciousness. In addition, the main functions of moral self-consciousness are determined, as well as major contradictions that need to be settled for optimization of education of older adolescents’ moral self-сconsciousness. The paper deals with the essence of moral self-consciousness of personality as the awareness of oneself, one’s own moral values, attitudes, skills, potential, actions, their motives and effects, adjusting own behavior and moral self-improvement.
