Abstract
The paper examines the ability to organize differentiated instruction as a component of history and civic education teachers’ subject-specific pedagogical competence. It identifies five interrelated teaching skills encompassing the design of differentiated learning outcomes and tasks, variation of learning activities, instructional support, and formative assessment. The importance of these skills for effective teaching in lower secondary education, taking into account students’ individual characteristics and needs, is substantiated.
