Abstract

The paper explores the significance of the national-cultural component in the professional training of future humanities teachers at higher pedagogical education institutions amid Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, globalization, and the digitalization of the educational environment. It substantiates the role of national identity, cultural self-awareness, and value orientations in the professional development of future teachers. Three key content blocks of the national-cultural component are characterized: Ukrainian studies, ethnopedagogy, and axiology. Particular attention is paid to the need to integrate national-cultural content across humanities disciplines, employ digital resources, virtual museums, electronic libraries, and opportunities provided by non-formal education. Selected approaches to implementing the national-cultural component in teacher education in the European Union, Poland, the United States, Canada, and the Baltic States are examined. Prospective directions for updating the content of humanities education are identified, focusing on the development of future teachers’ national-cultural competence, the revitalization of cultural heritage, and the creation of contemporary Ukrainian-language digital content.
