Abstract
The article substantiates the prerequisites and features of developing critical thinking in profile secondary school graduates as the foundation of their readiness for a conscious life choice. A contradiction is identified between the objective societal demand for a graduate with a high level of cognitive agency and the insufficient development of a comprehensive didactic system for its formation in the educational process of profile secondary schools. An analysis of domestic and foreign psychological and pedagogical literature regarding the evolution of the category "critical thinking" was carried out. A framework for its development in high school students is designed and substantiated, encompassing cognitive autonomy (the ability to independently manage cognitive processes), cognitive resilience (the formation of personal cognitive immunity), and cognitive proactivity (creative-transformative capacity). It is proven that the framework will ensure the trajectory of a profile school graduate's development through the transformation of six agentic roles (a competent reader, a literate information space user, an effective team communicator, a conscious citizen of Ukraine, a proactive agent of choice, and an emotionally mature individual), alongside determining the corresponding practical didactic toolkit for their implementation. The developed framework for critical thinking as a cross-cutting skill of a profile school graduate serves as a conceptual basis for designing a didactic model for developing critical thinking in high school students, the scientific substantiation of whose component structure constitutes the prospect for further research.
