Abstract

The report presents the results of an analytical study of the status of the implementation of the Civics course in grade 8 in the first year of its implementation. Based on a survey of students and teachers, the perception of the course, the features of the organization of learning, the use of the textbook and electronic resources, and the main difficulties of implementation were analyzed. A positive general attitude towards the course was revealed in the presence of gaps between the declared potential of activity-based learning and its practical implementation. The need for strengthening methodological support for teachers, optimizing teaching time, and developing digital tools as conditions for increasing the effectiveness of the course was substantiated. The publication is intended for specialists in the field of education and scientists involved in the methodology of teaching history, law, and civics; practicing teachers, curriculum developers, and authors of textbooks for general secondary education institutions; education managers and methodologists.
