Abstract

The publication explores the role and place of multimedia resources of scientific digital libraries in the context of the modern information environment. Attention is focused on the transformation of traditional libraries into multifunctional information and communication centers. The main types of multimedia resources (video lectures, podcasts, interactive models, 3D reconstructions, scientific simulations, etc.) are analyzed, as well as their impact on the effectiveness of research and educational activities. The key advantages of using multimedia, such as increasing the visibility and accessibility of knowledge, interactivity and the ability to model complex processes, are identified. The main challenges associated with the integration of multimedia resources are outlined, including the problems of information overload, the need to develop the digital competence of scientists and ensure long-term storage of multimedia content. It is emphasized that multimedia resources are a strategic component of the development of scientific digital libraries, which ensures their adaptation to the requirements of the digital age. Promising directions for further development of scientific digital libraries are considered.
