Abstract

The article addresses the issue of updating the national and cultural component of contemporary teacher education in the context of the war and Ukraine’s post-war recovery. The main development trends are identified, including regulatory support, expansion of national and cultural disciplines, interdisciplinarity, increased attention to the personological approach, consideration of wartime experience, and strengthening the practice-oriented dimension of teacher education. Based on an analysis of educational programmes and a survey of university teachers, the key challenges are outlined and recommendations for updating the national and cultural component of teacher education are substantiated. Particular attention is paid to its role in fostering national identity, civic resilience, cultural competence, and the professional identity of future teachers.
