Abstract
The theses substantiate the didactic potential of complex tasks in chemistry textbooks for grades 7–9 of the New Ukrainian School as a tool for developing students’ key competencies in accordance with the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education. The main characteristics of complex tasks are identified. The analysis of author-developed chemistry textbooks demonstrates that complex tasks contribute to the development of analytical and synthetic thinking, the ability to apply knowledge in new situations, and the implementation of the competency potential of chemistry education.
