Abstract
The article examines the pedagogical activity of Vadym Shcherbakivskyi in emigration as an important component of his scholarly, organizational, and cultural-educational work. The aim of the study is to clarify the main forms, content, and significance of his teaching, mentoring, and organizational-educational activity during the Prague, Munich, and London periods of his life. To achieve this aim, a set of general scientific and special historical methods was employed, including the historical-biographical, problem-chronological, and historical-comparative methods, as well as the methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, and systematization of source and historiographical materials. The study has established that the scholar’s pedagogical activity in emigration was comprehensive in nature and included university teaching, participation in academic self-governance, the training of young scholars, as well as educational work with Ukrainian youth. It has been found that during the Prague period, V. Shcherbakivskyi established himself as one of the leading professors of the Ukrainian Free University, developed a system of Ukrainocentric archaeology courses, and actively contributed to the preparation of a new generation of Ukrainian researchers. During the Munich period, his pedagogical role was manifested in the restoration of the Ukrainian Free University after the Second World War, as well as in the combination of teaching with administrative leadership and scholarly mentorship. During the London period, the main forms of his pedagogical activity were extracurricular teaching, educational meetings, and support for Ukrainian students. It has been proven that V. Shcherbakivskyi’s pedagogical activity was an important factor in preserving the continuity of Ukrainian higher education, advancing Ukrainian studies, and shaping a nationally conscious academic environment in the diaspora.
