Abstract

The article examines the socio-cultural nature, genesis, and instrumental functions of mythological elements within the structure of modern political ideologies. The author analyzes the phenomenon of remythologization as a characteristic feature of transformational societies under the conditions of limited rational approaches to reality. It is determined that political ideology is formed on a mythological foundation and actively exploits irrational mechanisms, deep symbols, and patterns of collective consciousness to legitimize power and manipulate mass consciousness. Based on the example of Ukrainian political discourse, the specifics of the functioning of key national mythologems, particularly "Revival" and "European choice," are examined in detail, and the features of overcoming their contradictions by moving into the realm of universal civil life are analyzed.
