Abstract

The scientific article provides a comprehensive analysis of the transformation processes of the value system in Ukrainian society and the peculiarities of modern political mythology's functioning under the conditions of market transitions and socio-cultural crisis. The dual nature of economic and personality markets is investigated; while acting as elements of democracy, they simultaneously reinforce inequality and lead to the commercialization of spiritual values. Political reforms in Ukraine are analyzed, particularly the constitutional consolidation of the separation of powers and the implementation of the proportional electoral system, which, according to the Razumkov Center sociological data, did not receive high public support and intensified the clash of symbols and identities within an ideological vacuum. Particular attention is paid to the deconstruction of the core myths of modern democracy—the myth of freedom, the myth of equal opportunities, and the declarative nature of constitutional norms. Drawing on the concepts of E. Fromm and I. Berlin, the author explores the phenomenon of "escape from freedom" and the risks of "negative freedom" dominance, which push individuals toward submission to anonymous power or destructive ideologies. The election programs of political parties are critically examined as a pragmatic tool for constructing the myth of a "happy future" through unfulfillable social promises, alongside the role of media technologies and the virtualization of reality (specifically through the use of "temnyks" and manipulations) in shaping a mythological worldview. It is proved that myth, merging with a moral ideal, acts as a systemic feature of modern perception and can serve both as an instrument of electoral manipulation and as a positive integrating foundation for a new value paradigm.
