Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive theoretical, methodological, and socio-cultural analysis of the nature of destructive socio-political behavior and legal nihilism within the context of contemporary Ukraine's civilizational progress. It re-evaluates traditional approaches to defining destructiveness, interpreting it as a phenomenon deeply determined by social reality, political practices, and dominant social meanings. The study details the multi-level phenomenology of destructive behavior, which encompasses the personal level, the level of small groups, as well as the social, political, and global civilizational levels. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of social revolutions (specifically, the experience of the Maidan), where the deconstruction of old corrupt structures is interpreted not as blind destruction, but as a value-oriented process of fighting for new social meanings and visions of the future. Based on the analysis of empirical sociological data, the study captures profound worldview shifts in the system of Ukrainians' value orientations caused by foreign military aggression, where the demand for collective security, justice, and state resilience began to dominate over private interests. It demonstrates that the rise of legal nihilism, anomie, and political absenteeism in Ukrainian society is a direct consequence of socio-economic inequality, the total corruption of the law enforcement and judicial systems, and the disregard for laws by the authorities themselves. The paper identifies dangerous trends of widespread public disillusionment that shape citizens' psychological readiness for spontaneous protests or radical "laws of the street" in the event of inefficient state management. The study concludes that overcoming destructive manifestations and achieving a successful democratic transformation in Ukraine depends not on repressive mechanisms, but on a fundamental change in the value-semantic component, modernization of the legislative framework, strengthening of public oversight over the authorities, and the cultivation of conscious motivation for law-abiding behavior among citizens.
