Abstract
The Conceptual Framework views the borderland as a distinctive sociocultural space where different cultures, identities, languages, historical experiences, and social practices interact, shaped by its proximity to the state border. It outlines priorities for the education and upbringing of children and young people in Ukraine’s borderlands as environments characterised by heightened risks while possessing considerable human, cultural, and educational potential. Particular attention is devoted to fostering Ukrainian national and civic identity and cultural and value-based self-identification, preserving national memory, promoting intercultural interaction, and developing information resilience, transformative resilience, and futures literacy. The Conceptual Framework aims to strengthen the educational and formative role of educational institutions in preserving the human potential of the borderlands, reinforcing social cohesion, and fostering a responsible attitude among children and young people towards Ukraine’s future.
