Abstract
The paper examines the role of complex tasks in chemistry textbooks for Grades 7–9 as a tool for developing students' key competencies in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education of Ukraine and the concept of the New Ukrainian School. It substantiates the essential characteristics of complex tasks, including integrative nature, problem-oriented design, and alignment with learning outcomes and assessment.
