Abstract

The article substantiates the theoretical and methodological foundations for studying socio-humanitarian education as an interdisciplinary historical and pedagogical phenomenon. A terminological analysis of the concept is conducted, defining socio-humanitarian education as an educational field aimed at developing an individual's worldview, ethical, cultural, legal, and social competencies through the integration of the humanities and social sciences. The main functions (value-orientational, culture-forming, civic-integrative, communicative, and critical-analytical) alongside key tasks of this educational area are highlighted. The paper traces the historical evolution of socio-humanitarian knowledge and educational approaches in Ukraine (from the 11th century to the present) — from religious and moral concepts to value-oriented, critical civic education integrated into a global context.
