Abstract
The article explores the recursive relationship between the state of social sciences and humanities education and the level of academic freedom in Ukraine amidst modern geopolitical instability. It is substantiated that socio-humanitarian education serves as a foundation for developing worldview, ethical, and legal competencies, as well as critical thinking, which are essential for actors in the educational process to effectively exercise their right to academic freedom. The paper analyzes the trends of marginalizing humanities and social disciplines in higher and secondary education institutions and evaluates their negative impact on the Academic Freedom Index and national security. The author concludes that socio-humanitarian education and academic freedom share a self-reinforcing, recursive interdependence, where the quality of education fosters an environment for realizing freedom, while academic freedom provides the necessary conditions for evolving the content and methodology of humanities and social sciences.
