Abstract

The textbook introduces the history of the emergence and development of painting, its types and genres, as well as the main materials and techniques of easel painting. It provides information on the nature of light and colour, the expressive means of painting, practical recommendations for working with various artistic materials, and an overview of their properties. The publication is intended for higher education students enrolled in the Secondary Education (Fine Arts) educational and professional programme, lecturers of professional art institutions, teachers of general secondary education institutions, art schools and studios, as well as anyone interested in painting.
