Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study of psychological mechanisms and effectiveness of coaching and tutoring as modern tools for personal development in the context of educational and professional environment transformation. Based on a systematic analysis of contemporary research and practical experience in implementing these approaches, key psychological mechanisms ensuring their effectiveness have been identified and characterized: activation of internal motivation through setting meaningful goals, development of reflective thinking through specific questioning techniques and feedback, transformation of behavioral patterns in a safe experimental environment, emotional regulation, and the mechanism of neuroplasticity. Common and distinctive features in the functioning of psychological mechanisms of coaching and tutoring have been identified and analyzed. It has been established that coaching is more focused on transforming beliefs and activating emotional mechanisms of change, while tutoring primarily relies on cognitive learning mechanisms and the formation of metacognitive strategies. Special attention has been paid to investigating the mechanism of emotional resonance, which plays a key role in forming trusting relationships between the specialist and client, creating a psychologically safe space for personal transformations. Based on a meta-analysis of empirical research, five groups of factors determining the effectiveness of coaching and tutoring support have been systematized: personal characteristics of the client/learner, professional competencies of the coach/tutor, quality of interaction between process participants, organizational conditions, and contextual factors. Factors influencing the longevity of achieved results have been separately identified, including the development of self-coaching skills and formation of a supportive environment. The perspective of integrating coaching and tutoring approaches for creating comprehensive personal development programs that consider both deep psychological processes and practical aspects of achieving set goals has been theoretically substantiated. Promising directions for further research have been identified: studying long-term effects of coaching and tutoring, developing integrative models of personaldevelopment support, investigating culture-specific aspects of applying these methods, creating valid tools for assessing intervention effectiveness, and studying the specifics of their application in different age groups and professional contexts.
