Abstract

The monograph is devoted to the theoretical and methodological substantiation of psychological hermeneutics as a field of contemporary psychological science that investigates the processes of understanding, interpretation, and meaning-making in an individual's life experience. The study reveals the psychological nature of text, narrative, dialogue, and interpretation as leading factors in a person's comprehension of self, others, and the world. Particular attention is paid to text as a form of organizing inner experience, to autonarrative as a means of self-understanding, and to psychological procedures for analyzing the meaning structures of personal experience. The applied significance of psychological hermeneutics for psychotherapy, psychological counseling, education, and personal development under conditions of social transformation and uncertainty is substantiated. The monograph is addressed to scholars, lecturers, practicing psychologists, postgraduate students, and all those interested in the problems of contemporary psychology of understanding and meaning-making.
