Abstract
The article presents the conceptual foundations for the socio-psychological support of the development of civic identity among young people in de-occupied territories. The focus on this issue is due to the motivational and mobilizing potential of civic identity, which is a determining factor in the unification of society and the reintegration of de-occupied territories. A working definition of civic identity is proposed as an individual's awareness of belonging to a political nation — a community whose members feel responsible for the welfare and development of their country, share certain values, and are ready to defend them. The goal of supporting the development of identity is to create conditions for the establishment of the values of civic identification and the acquisition of the competencies (abilities) necessary for the successful fulfillment of the role of a citizen. The methodology is based on a combination of etatist and liberal approaches: the former focuses on the value-attitudinal aspects of identity, while the latter focuses on the individual's activism and readiness to fulfill the role of a citizen, which requires a corresponding level of civic competence (skills). The problem area of identifying young people in de-occupied territories has been identified. Four groups of socio-psychological factors for the development of civic identity have been identified: the educational environment, identification discourse, the information environment, and the competence profile of the individual. It is proposed to apply the clustering of value perceptions and practices of civic identity when choosing means and implementing targeted adjustments to developmental influences. It is concluded that combining statist and liberal approaches is promising for explaining the essence, defining the structure and functions of civic identity, deepening the understanding of its potential, and expanding the opportunities for its development.
