Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the features of the development of social responsibility of pedagogical workers of training centers of penal institutions. The objectives of the study: based on the analysis of scientific sources on the problem under study, to determine the main approaches to the study of their social responsibility and the psychological features of their professional activities; to conduct an empirical study of the features of their social responsibility; based on the results of the empirical study, to determine the main factors of their social responsibility. 28 pedagogical workers of training centers of penal institutions from different regions of Ukraine participated in the study: masters of industrial training and teachers of special disciplines. When conducting the study, we used various methods of identifying the level of formation of their social responsibility, primarily questionnaires and testing according to the methods of M. Rokych (hierarchy of value orientations) and D. Leontiev (meaningful life orientations). The study showed that the respondents were mostly middle-aged people with higher education, married people who have children. For the vast majority of them, relatives could be positive sources of social responsibility education: the vast majority of them were raised in complete, prosperous families, their social environment consisted mainly of decent people. The moral and psychological climate in the educational environment is positive: most respondents consider themselves full-fledged members of it, wish to continue to maintain relationships with each other even after work, indicate the predominance of people pleasant to them in their community, are generally satisfied with the attitude towards them from others, indicate conflict-free friendly relations, traditions of mutual support and assistance. Responsibility occupies an average rank in the hierarchy of their instrumental values and is most closely related to other professional values: “hard work”, “interesting work”, “discipline”. Almost all respondents have an average level of meaningful life orientations on most scales.
