Abstract
In the context of transformation processes within the vocational education system of Ukraine—driven by European integration benchmarks, the digitalization of the educational environment, and the need to respond to the social challenges of wartime—enhancing the professional capacity of social educators in vocational education institutions has gained particular urgency. The modern social educator emerges as a multi-functional specialist, capable of acting effectively under conditions of uncertainty, providing comprehensive socio-pedagogical support, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and barrier-free educational environment. The updating of regulatory frameworks in the educational and social spheres, the introduction of innovative approaches to organizing the educational process, and the growing role of psychosocial support for students necessitate the systematic improvement of social educators' professional competencies. Skills in conducting socio-pedagogical diagnostics, monitoring and risk assessment, organizing effective preventive and corrective work, utilizing modern digital tools, and building productive communication with all participants in the educational process are of particular importance. The objective of the professional development program, "Professional Development of Social Educators in Vocational Education Institutions: Modern Practices of Activity and Support," is to comprehensively update and expand the professional competencies of social educators in alignment with contemporary challenges and the needs of the educational environment. The program aims to develop the ability to conduct normatively grounded activities, implement effective models of socio-pedagogical support, perform diagnostic and analytical work, execute preventive and corrective measures, and provide psychological support and professional interaction. The content of the program is structured according to the logic of the phased development of a social educator's professional competence and encompasses five interconnected modules: from regulatory, theoretical-methodological, and organizational foundations of practice to the techniques of socio-pedagogical diagnostics, support, prevention, counseling, and professional communication. Particular attention is paid to issues of academic integrity, media literacy, information security, the creation of a safe and inclusive educational environment, the prevention of social risks, and the mitigation of professional burnout through the development of self-regulation skills. The program includes a complex of mandatory and elective educational components (content modules, special courses) that ensure the achievement of defined learning outcomes and meet modern standards for the professional development of pedagogical staff. It serves as a foundation for planning and organizing the educational process, assessing the level of professional competence among trainees, and ensuring the quality of educational services in the field of professional development.
