Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the experience of the United Kingdom in training specialists in the construction industry within colleges of professional education. The study highlights modern mechanisms for the formation of professional competencies among students, the organizational and pedagogical foundations of the functioning of the system of vocational education and training, as well as the role of colleges as a key link in meeting the sectoral needs of the labour market. The content of educational programmes implemented through close cooperation with employers and industry organizations is examined, contributing to the enhancement of the practical orientation of learning. The influence of national education policy and governmental initiatives on the development of construction education is identified within the context of strategic national priorities, including digitalization, sustainable development, and achieving Net Zero goals. The main models of vocational training are outlined, including dual education, T-Levels, Apprenticeships, City & Guilds certification qualifications, and National Vocational Qualifications. The role of national standards and qualification frameworks in ensuring the alignment of educational outcomes with the needs of the construction industry and the modern labour market is analysed. The obtained results can be applied to improve the system of training construction specialists in Ukraine, taking into account the best British practices in the field of vocational education and training.
